The women’s shelters have fought, all around Sweden, for women and children exposed to men's violence for over 25 years, the last 10 years along with the young women’s shelters. In the beginning, women fumbled to understand how violence could occur in normal relations. Over the years, a pattern has become visible. Eva Lundgren has in her research confirmed and proven the situation of women and young women in the modern society. The process of normalising violence is a theoretical model, which is supported by knowledge acquired from experience. It shows how the limits of the relationship are displaced, and how extreme occurrences become a part of everyday life. When the violence gets normalised his reality becomes hers, and the violence is internalised.
